RD #1 of the 2026 Canadian Enduro League Presented by The Inside Line was a fast one! With six stages, 160+ racers, ripping trails, the stage was set for one hell of a weekend!
The Fire In The Mountains Enduro has been a crowd-pleaser since its inception. Not only is it an epic event, but it is also a fundraiser for the West Kelowna Professional Firefighters Charity, which supports great local initiatives like the BC Burn Fund, The Boys and Girls Club, C.R.I.S. (Community Recreation Incentive Society) and more. We're incredibly proud to be able to partner with this event once again for 2026!
As well over 160 racers descended on the Smith Creek Trails, what awaited them was six stages, just over 36km and 1600M of elevation. Racers battled with high speeds and dry conditions that the riding in the Okanagan is known for. These tricky conditions were key in creating some very tight racing this weekend!
The racing was just as exciting as ever this weekend! On the Pro Junior Mean side of things, Nash Jamieson took to the day with a flying start, winning the first three stages before having a few big crashes hindering his chances for a win here. Mateo Quist and Nolan Weiss took over the battle for the lead which after a very tight battle, Mateo took the win with Nolan in 2nd and Luka Markon rounding out the top 3. In Pro Junior Women, we saw local racer Brooke Bates dominate the field winning all 6 stages! Behind, there was a tight battle for 2nd place with Katie Shillington and Leela Wiedner, with Kaitie taking 2nd place by 10 seconds.
In Pro Women, Hannah Gillcrist took top honours after a dominant win with 4 stage wins, battling with Jenna Foreman and Geza Rodgers who took 2nd and 3rd respectively. In Pro Men, we saw top dogs of the sport and locals battling it out for the top step on the BMF Customs Podium. Rhys Blair took the early lead winning stage 1, with lief Rodgers taking control during stage soon after commanding a handful of stage wins and the top step on the podium for the day. Emmett Hancock and Evan Guthrie battled it out for the remainder of the day, with Evan taking 2nd and Emmett taking the 3rd step on the box.
A massive thank you to the West Kelowna Trail Crew, Local 4456 Professional Firefighters Charitable Society, our volunteers, and all of the riders for coming out and making this a weekend to remember.
